Various privately commissioned works and work in museum collections

My work starts in a straightforward way from direct observation and drawings. But it is not limited to a single viewpoint or perspective.
The paintings based on wood (its structure and form) also have associations with landscape, and sometimes become landscape.
The process is important to me, and so is my study and admiration of painters such as Braque and Picasso, Graham Sutherland and Prunella Clough.
I also like a more traditional approach, still life, landscape and flowers. There is no difficulty for me in the two paths and I enjoy the transformation of objects into new forms by working on them. Colour is always a major factor. Underlying patterns o nature are an endless source of inspiration, whether wood, plant or stone.
